42nd EGOS Colloquium 2026 [10.03.26]
This year, the Chair of Sociology is represented with three contributions at the 42nd EGOS Colloquium in Bergamo.At the conference, which will be held this year in a hybrid format in Bergamo and local hubs, the chair will present current research on cooperatives, the valuation of waste, and the digitalization and future of work.
- Niels Grote, Caroline Ruiner, Martin Möller, and Birgit Apitzsch will present their paper “Learning to steer through turbulence. How cooperatives of solo self-employed maintain course under external pressures” in the sub-theme Social Movements, Alternative Organizations, and the Democratization of the Economy.
- Sarah Straub and Caroline Ruiner will present their paper “AI in service work: Exploring the dual role of technology as support and coercion” in Sub-theme 32 Human-Centered Future of Work in More-than-Human Society through Responsible Use of Exponential Technologies in Organizations.
- Ronny Ehlen will present his paper “(Re-)Valuing Waste: Valuation Practices and Principles in Recycling Organizations” in Sub-theme 09 Organizing as a Practice: The Changing Role of Materiality in Organizational Life.
