4th International Workshop on Organizational Legitimacy  [14.03.26]

The Department for Sociology will be represented with a contribution at the 4th International Workshop on Organizational Legitimacy, taking place on 8–9 June 2026 at Aix-Marseille University in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Ronny Ehlen and Caroline Ruiner will present their paper “Justifying (Re-)Valuation: Legitimacy Tests in Re- and Upcycling Organizations”, which examines how organizations providing re- and upcycled products work to secure the legitimacy of their waste-based products, services, and production processes in everyday practice. The paper highlights everyday “legitimacy tests” and forms of justification work that are negotiated at the intersection of different orders of worth, such as market, technical, and sustainability considerations.​

We look forward to discussing this project with the international legitimacy research community in Aix-en-Provence.
